Let's Do A LightSwitch Hack-A-Thon

Most Hack-A-Thons are a grind because to give the contestants time to come up with something decent you need to give them at least a day.
Not so with LightSwitch. One of the selling points of LightSwitch is that development is so fast. With LightSwitch you can give contestants only 1 hour.
The Visual Studio LightSwitch Hack-A-Thon Event
- Length – 2 1/2 hours (so it can be done during a normal user group meeting)
- Schedule
- 000:00 – 015:00: Welcome and Pizza
- 015:00 – 030:00: Explain the rules (see below)
- 030:00 – 060:00: Have a LightSwitch expert build an entire application from scratch using most of the techniques that will be required in the competition.
- 060:00 – 120:00: The Competition
- 120:00 – 150:00: Prizes
- Competition Classes:
- Not A Professional Programmer
- Professional Programmers
- The Competition:
- Requirements for an application are presented with points awarded for each requirement met
- For example, an HR Application (with the points for each requirement):
- Manage current Employees
- 10 - Add User (10 fields such as Name, Phone, Email)
- 10 - Edit User
- 20 - Add Picture upload and edit
- Manage prospective Employees
- 10 - Add User (10 fields such as Name, Phone, Email)
- 10 - Edit User
- 20 - Add Resume upload and update
- 20 - Convert prospective Employee to a current Employee
- Time Cards
- 90- Enter time Card data for employees (there are a ton of requirements you would specify here)
- 90 - Allow employees to log in and manage their own Time Cards
- Prizes
- Judged by a panel of 5 people
- Awards for each “Competition Class”
- Highest point total
- Best looking application (must be in the top 50% to qualify)
